Completed Hallway Makeover

During our break, we were able to do a few home decorating projects and a some necessary home repairs. My husband got me this hallway set-up from IKEA (previously blogged about here) for my Christmas gift and spent an entire day putting together the two shoe cabinets and securing them to the wall, as well as hanging the lamps and mirror. I love the final outcome. I just need to add a few framed photos to the left. The kids love having their own shoe cubbies and coat rack at their height. I like having a spot for the keys and the mail other than the kitchen counter. Yippee for my new space!

It looks fabulous Colleen. I feel like I'm looking at a picture in Pottery Barn. Well done you and Chad. Glad you are back to blogging.

This is beautiful! I can't believe that it's from Ikea - what did we do before Ikea?

I know you already left the link, but I'd love to post on Ohdeedoh this Tuesday. Also- would love to do a room tour of your daughter's room and "art studio" sometime in the future. Please drop me an email when you get a chance! Thanks. Julia@apartmenttherapy.com

I really like it! Do you recall the name of the lamps you used above? Are they from ikea as well?

Eva,

The lamps are from IKEA as well. They are the ARSTID wall lamps ($16). http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90198600. The mirror, basket and coat rack are from there as well.

Fantastic! You didn't have to hard-wire the lamps right? Just ran the cord behind the mirror/shoe holder?

Eva,

Thats right. The lamps are hung with screws and taped down behind the mirror and only a small part of the cord hangs out. I don't think I would dare attempt to hard wire! That could be disasterous.

Colleen,

Came by via ohdeedoh and just had to leave a comment to tell you that I have been thinking of ways to maximize the skinny hallway in our home coming in from the garage and this post here was totally inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

I love, love, LOVE this!! I have that page of the IKEA catalog earmarked for my house. I don't have an entryway in my house so I think that this would help. How do you like it?? Do the kids put their shoes away? I would love to hear your opinion on this.
