Felt Food Frenzy

Breakfast Special: Pancakes with butter and syrup, bacon and eggs

Lunch Special: Fried chicken with green beans and pasta salad

Dinner Special: Spaghetti with meatballs and a garden salad

When I mentioned that I was getting really into making felt food, you probably didn't see this coming. Yes, I've stayed up way too late sewing. But it is so easy and so fun to make. In fact I've decided to make several sets of felt food for birthday gifts this year so I am getting a head start. To complete the sets I've decided to do put the food in a little felt grocery bag (like this) and include a grocery list I've typed and laminated or put the food in a little "take out" box and include laminated menu's.

ETSY Prints from Nella Designs

I love these silhouette prints from Nella Designs. You can customize the name and color and choose from these and other boy/girl silhouettes. I really love the cowyboy and the girl blowing dandelions. They are lovely. The cost is $18.50 for an 8x10 print.

Chipmunk's ABC

Chipmunk's ABC is a favorite story of ours. We love anything by Richard Scarry. Every time I turn to this page it makes me smile. I love Chipmunk's mother for the fact that she makes him a quilt. I know its silly. But I feel like I am that type of mother and I always tell Jane that this is me.

Printable Party Invitations

I love all three of these printable party invitations from Cookie Magazine. The Fiesta invite could work for a child's party, adult party, or Cinco De Mayo Feast. And the Dress up Doll Invitation is so fun. Jane's friends would love getting one in the mail. You can cut out the doll and her clothes to dress her for the party.

Spring Skirt

I made this little spring skirt for Jane today in preparation for our trip to Florida next month. I love the retro flowers and the colors. She wasn't interested in modeling for me, but the floral print inspired her to do the hula.

Dinner & Dessert

I may be a little behind on the felt food craze but I finally got around to making some of my own. The cookies are a birthday gift for a two year old budding baker. I was having so much fun making them, that I decided to try my hand at some pasta dishes as well. They were really simple and fun to make. And Jane is so excited to play with them. I was inspired by the felt cookies I purchased from Etsy, the Valentine cookies from Chasing Cheerios and the ravioli cooked up at Homemade by Jill.

New Favorite Room from OhDeeDoh

Little P's room is my new favorite over at OhDeeDoh. The color combination is amazing. I am planning to do the framed fabric hoops she does above the arm chair in Jane's room as well.

WIP: Stacked Coins for Jane

I finished my quilt top last night. I decided to mix a group of pastel 1930's reproduction prints with a white background to make a stacked coins quilt for Jane's bed. I am anxious to get it quilted to see the final product. Here's what I've got so far...

Pillowcase

I am slowly working on a twin size quilt for Jane's new bed and I thought it would be fun to make a pretty pillowcase to go with it. Jane chose the yellow fabric and I followed the directions in Last Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts. I love the color and I'm anxious to finish up her bedding and get her room in order. The new bed is beautiful but I am having trouble with the decorating.

Monday: Baking Day

Today's art day was actually a baking day. Jane and I made a couple of batches of heart shaped rice krispy treats for her preschool class (tomorrow is her V.I.P. day). And we made a few extras to deliver to our neighborhood friends. This form of art is awfully tasty.

Mail

The little hairclips I ordered from Nettie Pete arrived today. I can't wait to try them in Jane's hair tomorrow. She chose the Cinderella & Castle clips and I chose the polka dots. We are heading to Disney World next month so she's got princesses on her brain. This is true. She came downstairs one night recently about an hour after we put her to bed and said she was having trouble sleeping. She came and sat on the couch with us and I asked her what she'd been thinking about while she was laying in her bed trying to sleep. Her response, "Disney World".

Monday: Art Day

For today's art project with Jane, we took inspiration from Make & Takes Heart Shaped Animals and Jane came up with her own bug, fish and butterfly.

You can use this same idea to create heart shaped cookie creatures as well, here are some examples from Make and Take.
