Nurse Nancy Inspiration

Do you remember Nurse Nancy? She is a favorite around here. Jane loves to read the Little Golden Book, Nurse Nancy, and to play hospital with her own friends and dolls.
I have been contemplating how to go about making Jane a little Nurse Nancy costume to wear. I found some inspiration on ETSY when I stumbled upon these vintage play doctor boxes for candy pills (which Nancy gives to her own patients in the the story) and this sweet and simple little girls dress styled after Nurse Nancy's blue and white stripes.

I am fairly confident I could make a dress using a similar pattern and a little white apron, but I need to do a little research on making the little nurse hat which Nancy wears.

I have always had a fondness for Nurse Nancy, since my name is Nancy! I'm sure you could make the little dress. Nothing hard about that. I made my daughter a nurse's hat years ago. I think the pattern is an upside down "T" shaped thing. A long rectangle (for the brim) attached to a shorter rectangle for the top part. With button holes on the 3 ends to hold it all together in the back.

I hope this helps!

Hi! I can help! I can help! We love the same book in our family and early this year I made some nurse outfits for my 2 girls using Nancy as our inspiration. You can read about it here if you like:

and I included a pattern for a hat that's very much like hers. Please feel free to try it out.

And thank you so much for the etsy links. Eeek! I feel a great urge to go shopping for those lovely little boxes. The pills! I love. Thank you!

So cute!!! Do you know Sharon Rasmussen? She made a dress like that for Sawyer last year for Halloween because she was Wendy (fast food) and it was super cute! She didn't make a hat though, so good luck with that!!
